An 18-year old Gordon State College student residing in one of the dorms on campus faces multiple charges after being caught early Friday morning entering autos. Austin Tyler Royston, 18, was spotted coming out of a Thomaston Street driveway at 4:33 a.m. Friday by a city police officer on routine patrol who stopped and questioned him. He was subsequently arrested, according to chief Chuck Keadle.
Royston’s permanent address is on Victory Lane in Newnan.
He is charged with one count of entering an auto with intent to commit theft, 15 counts of theft by receiving stolen property and 10 counts of financial transaction card theft. In the overnight hours before Royston’s arrest, cars were entered on Edgewood Circle, Harris Drive, Founders Drive and Cherokee Drive in addition to Thomaston Street where he was caught.
Barnesville Police Chief Chuck Keadle emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. More charges against Royston and additional arrests are anticipated.
