THE BLACK CAT HUNT

 

The Black Cat Hunt for 2015 one of Griffin’s Favorite Family Events was held Thursday Night October 29th. The Downtown broadcast location for the hunt was Griffin’s Bank the First National Bank Main Branch located at 318 South Hill Street. WKEU would like to thank the Griffin Businesses that support this great family event, and donated the many prizes for the hunt. Without their support the event would not be possible. As we have since 1952 WKEU, the Spalding County Sheriffs Department, Junior Deputy Program, Griffin Police DARE Program, and the Griffin Downtown Council help bring you the hunt each year. Thousands of families took part in the program this year. Ted Taylor and Tony Broski, were your hosts for the evening. There were six stuffed black cats’s hidden at various locations in the City and County and were claimed by area families participating in the hunt and found the cats following clues read on AM 1450.  
The winners were:
Number 1 Andrea Funderburk and her family.  The cat was located at Thomas Park the old Thomas Packing Property.
Number 2:  Ashley Barnhouse and her family.  The cat was located at Lainie Bugs on Zebulon road.
Number 3:  Peyton Thayer family found at the new location of Griffin Daily News.
Number 4:  Leslie Fagin.  The cat was located at City Park Tennis Court.
Number 5:  Sharman Brannon.  The cat was found at the old location of WGRI studios now Bartlett Insurance.
Number 6:  Mitch Kimbell and friends they found the cat at the Spalding County Health Department.
WKEU would like to thank Chuck Copeland, Dick Brooks, and all the Staff of First National Bank for their untiring support to this great family event each year. First National has always sponsored all family and youth events. We deeply appreciate their dedication to our community and youth. We also deeply appreciate Ted Taylor, Tony Broski, for hosting the event, Ronnie Lowe, Larry Johnson, and Donna Taylor for their assistance in making the hunt a great success. Most of all our listeners and famines that participated in this event that has been a staple for families since 1952.  Special Thanks to the Spalding Sheriffs Department Junior Deputy Program, Griffin Police DARE Program, and the Griffin Spalding Chamber of Commerce for their Assistance in bringing you the hunt each year.
