SPALDING COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT
A Lamar County man, Shane Clifton Collett age 42 has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole plus 10 years for killing Skylar Dials, who was his neighbor.
Collett, was convicted by a Lamar County jury on charges of malice murder, two counts felony murder, aggravated assault, first degree cruelty to children and concealing the death of another.
The jury deliberated less than an hour before finding Collett guilty in Spalding County Superior Court.
Young Skylar Dials disappeared after she left her home, taking a shortcut through a wooded area near her home on December 21, 2012 to go to a friends home. Her body was found the following day, dumped near an old logging deck in the woods off Yarbrough Mill Road in Spalding County. She was nine years old.
