UPDATE: A Griffin Man who was the victim of a shooting incidnet on Meriwether street has passed away at the Atlanta Medical Center.
A shooting victim transported to the Atlanta on Wednesday passed away at the Atlanta Medical Center. Wednesday about 1:15 pm units of the Griffin Police Department, Spalding Regional EMS, and Emory Air Flight responded to 1416 Meriwether Street, at Robert’s Collision in reference to a shooting. Upon their arrival it was discovered that an altercation had taken place between a customer and one of the employees which resulted in the employee being shot one time in the chest. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was spotted in the 400 block of Hammond Drive at which time Officer’s from the Griffin Police Department took the suspect into custody without incident.
The shooter has been identified as Christopher Willis age 29 of Griffin, Georgia. It is expected that Willis will face Murder and possible other charges. The Victim was identified as Robert Murray, Jr. age 39, also of Griffin, Georgia. The victim was life flight ed to Atlanta Medical Center and his condition was listed as critical. Mr. Murray passed away late Wednesday according to Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster. Coroner Foster had the body transported to the State Crime Lab in Atlanta. The investigation is on going and more details will be released later by the Griffin Police Department.
