A Jonesboro man arrested by the Spalding Sheriffs Department on Drug Charges following a traffic stop.

Sheriff Wendell Beam has has advised WKEU news that Eliseo Cervantes, age 24, of 32 Old Post Road, in Jonesboro,

           ELISEO CERVANTES

was arrested on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Cervantes was stopped for a traffic violation and a K-9 alerted to the odor of drugs in his vehicle. During the search agents with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit located a kilogram (2.2 lbs.), of heroin, and a loaded handgun. The street value of the heroin is in excess of $100,000.00. Cervantes is being held in the Spalding County Jail without bond on the following charges:

1. Trafficking Heroin
2. Possession of Heroin
3. Possession of Marijuana less that one ounce
4. Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Crime
5. Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
6. Window Tint Violation
