A Griffin police officer now in mandate school, put a posting on Facebook in relation to a UGA player who was severely injured in an accident on Saturdays game. A. J. Hammond’s post stated “To Hell with the Bulldogs and I ain’ t sorry for him at all.”  He also placed another posting that created many responses from coaches and football fans when he allegedly said about the injury, ” I hope it kills his career.” Which then created a fever pitch of postings back to Hammond taking exception to his remarks.
That caught the attention of WSB-TV and other Atlanta media, as well as WKEU, and several other radio voices in Georgia. On Monday Police Chief Steve Heaton called Hammond into this office and counselled him on his actions and gave Hammond a copy of the department policy manual.
WKEU and many news and sports broadcasters have been taken back by such a thoughtless, not to mention really dumb statement to be posted on the world wide website from a prospective police officer showing absolutely no concern over a young athlete that may well have a good career cut short.
A.J. Hammond’s posting no doubt reflected badly on a professional police agency and other great Law Enforcement Officers.
Meanwhile, WKEU news has learned that Nick Chubb will miss the remainder of the season according to UGA Head Coach Mark Richt.

The injury involves damage to multiple ligaments and cartilage, according to UGA Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Ron Courson.

Chubb is currently in the hospital for observation and surgery would be expected sometime in the next two weeks.
