About 1:15 kWednesday afternoon units of the Griffin Police Department, Spalding Regional EMS, and Griffin Fire Rescue responded to South Ridge Circle to the South Ridge Apartment Complex on South Hill Street across form the Griffin Airport. The initial 911 call indicated that an 11 year old had drowned in a pool. The incident occurred about 1:15 Wednesday afternoon.
Police indicated that the 11 year old, a 10 year old and a 4 year old, managed to climb over a locked gate at the Pool at the Apartment Complex. The 11 Year old went into the pool at the deep end and went to the bottom. The 10 year old ran for help. According to Police Investigators, a mail man in the area responded and began administering CPR to the 11 year old and was assisted by Corporal Fletcher of the Griffin Police Department, until Spalding Regional EMS Personnel arrived on the scene. A small, pulse was found and EMS personnel rushed the 11 year old to the Hospital where she was later air-lifted by Emory Air Flight based at the Griffin Spalding Air port to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta in critical condition. The incident is still under investigation by the Griffin Police Department.
