The Griffin Spalding Board of Ecuation has appointed Mr. Jim Smith, who was serving as the interim Superintendnet, as the new School Superintendent for the School System.

The Griffin Spalding School System Board of Education met Tuesday June 4 th in a called meeting and appointed serving Interim Superintendent Jim Smith as the new School Superintendent for the School System.  Mr, Smith was selected as the finalist and the Board under Georgia Code had to wait for 14 days after the selection of a finalist to appoint a new Superintendent.  Smith has served as the Assistant School Superintendent for the past several years, and was formerly the Director of finance for the school system. Mr. Smith will fill the position formerly occupied by Dr. Curtis Jones. Dr. Curtis Jones accepted the position as School Superintendent of the Bibb County school System. WKEU joins with our community to congratulate Mr. Smith for the appointment and to wish him well in his new position.
