The Monroe County Sheriffs Department Deputies were involved in a high speed chase following a traffic stop Saturday night. Deputies attempted to stop a Black Chevrolet Malibu on highway 87 in Monroe County near mile post 14 for speeding and failure to maintain their lane just before 9 pm. The driver of the Malibu then engaged the deputy in a chase which ended in Butts County when the Malibu’s driver lost control of the vehicle and wrecked. Four individuals then exited the Malibu and fled the scene of the crash. Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies along with the Butts County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol searched the area, An arrest was made of a male suspect about 9;58 pm, and a Second suspect a black female subject was arrested around 11:05 pm. Units of the Butts County Sheriffs Department, Monroe Sheriffs Department, and Georgia State Patrol Helicopter continued searching the area for two additional African American male suspects that were also seen exiting the vehicle.
