Sheriff Wendell Beam reminds all area residents that Spalding County citizens are continuing to receive phone calls from people identifying themselves as members of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office. The caller tells the citizen a warrant has been issued for their arrest or the arrest of a family member for failure to report for Jury Duty. The citizen is told they can avoid arrest by purchasing a Green Dot Money Card. The caller provides a phone number to the citizen to call once the card is purchased. I am encouraging any citizen who receives a call of this type, not to purchase any type of money card or provide any type of payment. Please report any type of activity of this type to your local law enforcement agency.
