SPALDNG COMMISSIONERS MEETING
The Commissioners also recognized the Spalding County Employees who completed the 2014 Griffin Leadership Development Institute. Those included Wendy Law, Lauren Brown, Lee Slaughter, Keith Bradford, Robbie Milner, and Latressa Ferguson.
The Commissioners recognized the 29 Spalding County Firefighters who have completed the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) The program was hosted by the Spalding County Office of Homeland Security.
The Commissioners also recognized the Spalding County Parks & Recreation Department as 2014 State Agency of the Year serving a population 50,001-80,000 as designated by the Georgia Recreation & Park Association.
The Commissioners presented Commissioner Chipper Gardner for his service to the community.
The Commissioners approved on second reading an Ordinance amending the Spalding County Code of Ordinances in relation to Animal Control, for the Maximum number of dogs and cats allowed without a kennel license.
The Commissioners denied approval on second reading an application of Cecil O. and Dot S. McAdams, Owners of 1649 Carver Road (3.03 acres requesting a rezoning
from R-1, Single Family Residential Low Density, to AR-1, Agricultural and Residential, and 1663 Carver Road 2.06 acres requesting a rezoning from R-1. The Commissioners approved 1725 Carver Road 86.532 acres requesting a rezoning from R-1, Single Family Residential Low Density, to AR-1, Agricultural and Residential.
The Commissioners approved on second reading a application of Ed Jr. and Maria Johnson, Owners – 600 Hamil Road 40.87 acres, AND 2.212 acres on Hamil Road rezoning from R-2, Single Family Residential, to AR-1, Agricultural and Residential.
The Commissioners approved a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approving the use of Personal Trainers with approved background checks and current fitness certificates at $75 per month at County parks.
Also approved was the purchase of three tablets and cases for use by the Spalding County Board of Assessors from the Commissioner’s Contingency Fund.
The Commissioners approved eliminating the Tobacco Surcharge for County Employees scheduled to go into effect on January 1. 2015.
The Commissioners denied a request from Mobley Construction for refund of 2009, 2010, and 2011 taxes on the Green space at The Meadows Subdivision and Walkers Mill Estates Subdivision.

The Commissioners Tabled until the January meeting for an appointment to McIntosh Trail Community Services Board to fill the unexpired term of Megan Oliver which expires December 31, 2016.
The Commissioners reappointment of Theresa Buchanan to the Spalding County Board of Family and Children Services for a five year term ending June 30, 2019. Mrs. Buchanan has expressed her willingness to serve another term.
The Commissioners denied approval of amendment relating to no through trucks on streets, by deleting paragraph (63) – Vaughn Road from Georgia Highway 16 to Georgia Highway 92.
A request was approved from the Spalding County Fire Department to apply for the F Y 2015 Assistance to Fire Fighter Grant. And authorize the Spalding County Fire Department to apply for a Georgia Power Grant to acquire a fire extinguisher training system.
A request of the 2015 Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant was approved.
Approved of the calendar year 2015 Holiday Schedule.
And approved cancellation of the January 19, 2015 Board of Commissioner’s meeting due to observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
