Early Monday night units of the Griffin Police Department, Spalding Regional and Spalding Coroner Sonny Foster responded to the scene of a 911 call of a fight between several individuals at Regency Apartments. The fight escalated into a shooting incident. During the fight one individual apparently pulled a firearm and shot a 21 year old. The Victim managed to make his way to the Ma and Pop convenience store on Meriwether street behind the Regency Apartments where he collapsed. The individual was taken to Spalding Regional by EMS personnel where he was later pronounced dead by Coroner Foster. The incident remains under investigation by the Griffin Police Department, and Coroner Foster. Due to the large crowd that had gathered at Spalding Regional the Emergency Room and Hospital were placed on lock down which is standard procedure if large crowds are gathering at the Emergency Room parking lot and driveways. More information is expected to be released later by the Griffin Police Department, and Coroner Foster.
