The report indicated the rankings are based solely on the data publicly released each year by the FBI.
The report indicated the considerations in their report included both violent and property crimes when compiling their list of Georgia’s most dangerous cities. The list of dangerous cities, however, is ranked according to violent crime rate.*
We realize that this topic is inherently controversial in nature and hits close to home. We are aware that there are many different ways to present this datum, but when compiling this list we chose to consider not just murder rate, but both violent and property crimes. Our list is ranked by violent crime rate, but check each city listing to get a general idea of the city’s ranking in terms of overall criminal offenses. Only cities with populations over 5,000 were included. We also excluded cities with overall crime rates under 70
