Crime Scene Investigators and the Lamar Sheriffs Department report that a fleeing Motorcyclists was killed on Sunday evening when the driver was attempting to elude officers. Deputy coroner Cindy Killingsworth identified the man as 33-year-old Dennis Turner Jr. who had recently moved to Towns Edge Apartments on Forsyth St. in Barnesville he had moved to Barnesville from Florida. He was reportedly employed at Enercon. Killingsworth told the Barnesville Herald Gazette that Turner was traveling at a high rate of speed on a Suzuki Cruiser when he lost control of the bike in a curve on Highway.41 South just north of its intersection with Fredonia Church Rd. The bike was found well off the roadway. Turner’s body was nearby.
A Witnesses indicated said Turner got into an argument with another man about money. The conflict was about to become physical when Turner jumped on the motorcycle and sped off without a helmet on. Killingsworth confirmed no helmet was found at the crash scene.
