On May 10, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m., The Griffin Police Department responded to a call of a shooting on Kentucky Avenue, Griffin. Officers of the Uniform Patrol Division responded to the scene and rendered aid until EMS and Fire Personnel arrived. The victim was identified as a 16 year old male who was air lifted to Atlanta Medical Center by Emory Air Flight Helicopter Air Ambulance based at the Griffin Spalding Airport. He is in serious, but stable condition. Another victim, identified as Perderius Stewart, suffered minor injuries.
Investigators began actively investigating and determined that the shooting was the result of a dispute over money. Multiple witnesses were interviewed and search warrants were executed in reference to this case. During these interviews and search warrants, information was obtained that lead to the issuance of arrests warrants. The following suspects have been arrested:
Dequavious Holland – 20 year old male from Griffin, Ga – charged with Aggravated Assault (2 counts) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
Brandon Holland – 22 year old male from Griffin, Ga – charged with Aggravated Assault (2 counts) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
Jabre’a Maddox – 18 year old female from Griffin, Ga – charged with Aggravated Assault (2 counts).
The Griffin Police Department would like to thank Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Troup County Sheriff’s Office, and Lagrange Police Department for their assistance during this investigation. The case is still ongoing and more arrests are possible.
