Breaking News : Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster has advised WKEU news that 3 individuals died in the ICU at SPALDING REGIONAL of the COVID19 VIRUS Early Friday Morning.
The new temporary hospital going up inside one of the Georgia World Congress Center’s exhibit halls was toured as to its progress on Thursday by Governor Kemp. According to officials the facility could begin accepting patients as early as Saturday morning.
The $21.5 million project is slated to house more mild to moderate cases of COVID-19, freeing up valuable hospital space for more serious and critical patients.
Georgia’s Adjutant General, Brigadier General Tom Carden Commander of the Georgia Amy and Air National Guard was tasked with overseeing the construction with National Guard assets that were used in the construction.
General Carden, said the facility would free up critical bed space for more serious cases. He also said “This facility will serve as a very important relief valve for not only hospitals in metro Atlanta, but for hospitals across the state of Georgia”
As of 7 PM Friday the Georgia Department of Public Health report of COVID19 virus in Georgia has increases to 17,432 Cases with a Death toll reaching 668.
Spalding County has 124 confirmed cases and 7 deaths.
