About 12:05 am Monday morning units of the Griffin Fire Department, Griffin Police Department, and Spalding Regional EMS answered a call from 911 dispatch to 118 Blanton avenue to an apartment fire. Initial reports indicated that a male living in the apartment went to sleep with the stove on. The individual was burned on his face arm and foot suffering 3rd degree burns.
The firefighters had the blaze under out by about 12:20 am, and the Fire was contained in the kitchen area. EMT personnel from Spalding Regional treated the man at the scene and he was taken to Spalidng Regional for further treatment and possible transfer to one of the burn units in Atlanta. By about 12:30 am Griffin Police units were released from the scene.
