UGA Griffin Campus Announcements

*2019 Relay for Life will be held this weekend with festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friday May 17 at Wyomia Tyus Park on Cowan Road in Griffin.  It’s not too late to participate for this awesome cause and help us all to BEAT CANCER! For more information please call the campus at 770-412-4400.

*The UGA Griffin Campus Research and Education Garden will hold “Celebration of Spring at the Garden” on Sunday, May 19th from 1-4 p.m.  There are over a dozen activities and topics covered at this year’s event including gourd decorating, Master Gardeners, Callaway Gardens, Books and Stories, Georgia Pollinator Census, iris care, Discovering Dauset Trails, watershed macros,  Recycling, gems and minerals, and astronomy.  This fun, family event is free and open to the public.  The Garden hosts a number of activities and exhibits throughout the year to promote environmental education and activities for all to enjoy.  It is located at 129 W. Ellis Road.

*Kids Cooking Basics Camp with Trudy Gill will be offered again from June 10th through the 13th.  This 4-day camp offers a morning and afternoon session.  For information and registration visit the UGA website at griffin.uga.edu and click on Continuing Education.

*The Dundee Cafe, located in the historical UGA mule barn, will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, June 13th.  Chef Marcie Bradberry with “From the Farm” offers fresh culinary delights for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday along with take-home pre-ordered  casseroles.  The scrumptious meals and specialty coffees are also served inside and on the outside veranda.  The Dundee Café sits in the heart of the Griffin Campus and is a welcoming place to meet and eat for the entire community.  This renovation of the 100- year old mule barn was made possible through a gift from the Dundee Community Association.  The Dundee Mills operated in Griffin for over a century in the area across from the Experiment Station, now the University of Georgia Griffin.

*The Campus Store, located on the first floor of the Flynt Building at 1109 Experiment Street, has new UGA and Georgia Bull Dawg items arriving weekly.  The shelves are stocked with Officially Licensed UGA apparel, souvenirs and gifts.  A lounge is set up adjacent to the store to gather and visit.  The Campus Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Come on out and pick up some holiday gifts.
