Thursday morning about 9:00 A Spalding county deputy stopped a suspicious vehicle on Birdie Road. The driver and deputy got into an altercation while being questioned. The individual stuck the deputy and fled into the woods. Other law enforcement personnel were called to the scene, along with the Sheriffs Department Helicopter. The search task force was in the are for several hours. Sheriff Dix said that his Deputy was not seriously injured but had some scratches and bruising but he will be fine according to the Sheriff. Deputies stayed in the area for several hours and later determined that the suspect apparently was picked up by another vehicle.
The Camera footage is being reviewed to identify the individual. The investigation is on going and Sheriff Dix indicated more information will be announced later as the investigation continues.
