According to Sheriff Darrell Dix, on January 2, 2018, Spalding Deputies Steven Culberson and Maurice Gray responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 61 Andrews Road.
As the deputies arrived on the scene, they received information that two male suspects were in the vicinity of Vineyard Place. Deputy Culberson observed the two suspects inside a barn that was being renovated.
Deputies Culberson and Gray approached the barn and the two suspects fled on foot. The deputies gave chase and after a foot pursuit were able to apprehend one suspect near Andrews Road. The other suspect remains at large. According to the homeowner, the only item determined to be missing is a Remington Woodmaster 30-.06 rifle.
The apprehended suspect was a 16 year old juvenile. He has been charged with burglary and was transported to the Clayton County RYDC.
