On Saturday, September 30th, 2017, at approximately 12:35 A.M., the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to an auto accident on Interstate 75 northbound at Pate Road.When deputies arrived, theydiscovered that two vehicles were involved, and one person was deceased.
Their investigation revealed that a Toyota Camry had been traveling northbound on the interstate when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the guardrail. The vehicle came to a stop in the left lane in a curve. The driver, identified as Rosalynn Ruth, a 62-year-old Savannah, Georgia, woman, had exited her vehicle when a Mercedes E350 traveling northbound struck her Toyota Camry head-on. Ruth was in the immediate area of her vehicle and she wasalso struck. Ruth was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other driver was taken to the hospital for injuries. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. More information will be released as the investigation continues.
