A routine traffic stop by Pike County Deputies led to the discovery of a mobile methamphetamine lab on Highway 19 this morning. After stopping a Pontiac G3 passenger car Deputies observed a strong chemical smell coming from the car and also noticed the driver to be extremely nervous in his behavior.
During a search of the vehicle components of the lab were located and Deputies backed away from the scene to await clandestine lab clean up personnel. Due to the hazardous nature of methamphetamine labs haz-mat suits were used during the clean up.
Everette Pierson III, 43 years of age, was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine after he was discovered to also have some hidden on his person.
Pierson is currently in the Pike County Jail awaiting his first appearance hearing.
