Two accidents, one involving a loaded school bus, happened nearly simultaneously on Johnstonville Road just after noon Friday.
The Barnesville Herald Gazette reported that the first call was for a head on collision on Walton Road. The second, less than a minute later, was for an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Johnstonville and Brook roads.
In the first crash, a school bus headed north on Walton Road was hit head on by a truck turning right off Johnstonville onto Walton. The crash was not severe, and the children were taken off the bus and waited in a nearby yard for a second bus. The bus driver suffered only minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
The second accident involved a young male driver Eastbound on Johnstonville road who lost control of his car in a curve. The driver overcorrected and the car overturned. The car slid off the north side of the roadway and through a concrete wall in front of Bethel Baptist Church, taking out a power pole and a large AT&T communications junction box.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle was not injured.
